How to Make the Most of Sick Days
When I was growing up, movies and tv shows always made it seem like getting sick as an adult was the most glamorous thing ever. Now that I’m an adult sitting at home with laryngitis I’ve realized that they are definitely NOT glamorous! However, I have discovered some hacks to make sick days not suck so much so that you can feel better and get back to being a boss!
Take a bath!
My mom always tells me that sometimes resting can be almost as good as actually sleeping and so when I’m sick I try to stay as relaxed and rested as I can. Taking a bath with some bath salts helps me feel calm and relaxed. I also get super cold when I’m sick so it’s a perfect way to get warm, clean, and cozy!
Skin Care.
Obviously when you’re sick your focus should be on taking care of yourself so skincare becomes extra important to me when I’m not feeling great. When I’m sick my skin almost immediately dries out which is why I try to pay special attention to keeping my skin clean and moisturized.
Stay HYDRATED!
This one is without a doubt the hardest one for me! When I’m sick I don’t want to consume anything but I’m told that’s the opposite of what you’re supposed to do. One of the fastest ways to get better quickly is to drink lots so I’ve been drinking lots of Acai White Peach Papaya juice (which is my all time favourite juice) and lots of chamomile & honey tea (which is supposed to be really good for getting rid of laryngitis - so here’s hoping!)
Take some time to relax and check out!
I don’t know about you, but I have such a hard time relaxing and taking time off. Sick days are the perfect time to kick up your feet, grab a comfy blanket, and veg out for a little while.
Here’s a list of some of my favourite sick day movies to watch:
Freaky Friday
The Parent Trap
She’s the Man
It Takes Two
To all the Boys I’ve Loved Before
So here’s to kicking those sick days in the butt! Cold season is coming quickly so let’s take care of ourselves, friends!
